Lions cut Waddle, claim center Gabe Ikard off waivers

Two days after their comeback against the St. Louis Rams ended on a botched shotgun snap, the Detroit Lions are adding competition to the center position.

The Lions claimed center Gabe Ikard off waivers from the Cleveland Browns today and cut offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle.

Waddle had started parts of the last three seasons at right tackle for the Lions, but was slow recovering this fall from the partially torn ACL he suffered last year. Waddle started six games this year for the Lions, but lost is job to Michael Ola last month.

Ikard, from Oklahoma, appeared in three games with the Buffalo Bills this fall, but was waived earlier this month.
