Allen Park — The Detroit Lions have a new running back.
A day after establishing the team's initial 53-man roster, the Lions claimed J.D. McKissic off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. A corresponding roster move will be announced later Sunday.
Undrafted out of Arkansas State in 2016, he spent his rookie year with the Atlanta Falcons before catching on with the Seahawks, where he's been the past two seasons.
Limited to five games due to a foot injury in 2018, McKissic played just nine offensive snaps.
In 2017, playing for current Lions offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, the 5-foot-10, 195-pounder had a versatile role in Seattle's offense, carrying the ball 46 times and catching 34 passes.
