The first time Ryan Fitzpatrick dropped back to pass Friday, he went after Nevin Lawson.
The second time, Fitzpatrick did the same. And the third.
By the time Friday’s preseason game was done, it was clear that Fitzpatrick and the Buccaneers were targeting Lawson as the weak link of the Lions secondary, and that Lawson was having trouble keeping up.
Lawson finished with eight tackles (six solo) in the Lions’ 33-30 victory, but that spoke more to the ease with which he gave up completions than it did his tackling prowess in the open field.
