Anthony Zettel spent three seasons as a long snapper in high school, so playing the position isn't totally new to him.
But there Zettel was at the start of practice Monday, giving Don Muhlbach a breather at long snapper as the Lions worked on punt cover drills.
When the drills moved down field and became more specialized, Zettel and Muhlbach stayed in the end zone, talking, with Muhlbach giving his younger teammate – a defensive end by trade – a crash course in snapping.
For Zettel, the session was like talking to a tenured history professor who knew everything about the rise and fall of ancient Rome.
