Allen Park — Even with a free weekend following Thursday’s game, Lions coach Jim Caldwell still plans to work.
But, he also hopes to watch the Big Ten championship as his alma mater, Iowa, faces Michigan State on Saturday in Indianapolis.
And Caldwell was, appropriately, unapologetic as he explained that he’ll be cheering for the Hawkeyes instead of the local Spartans.
“I think most guys that have played our game and been involved in it, their alma mater is a special place now,” he said Tuesday. “Let’s not get that twisted. But, we have some great teams in this state as well.
