Lions' broadcaster Brandstatter let go by WJR-AM (760)

Jim Brandstatter, voice of Detroit Lions radio for 31 years, will be replaced in the broadcast booth by Lions legend Lomas Brown this fall, WJR 760 AM confirmed Tuesday morning.

Brandstatter broke the news via Twitter:

Station manager Tom O'Brien confirmed the news.

"We talked to Jim this morning," O'Brien said. "His contract is up at the end of this month and we told him we're not going to renew it, and we're going to have Lomas Brown as our new color commentator."

O'Brien said Brandstatter has done "an excellent job" calling Lions games, "but we just thought, with Lomas available — an 18-year veteran and a seven-time Pro Bowler — and a well-respected Detroit Lions guy, who still lives here and is still involved in this community, we thought he would bring a great perspective.
