Jacksonville, Fla. — Linebacker Travis Lewis summarized the performance of the Lions starting defense perfectly after the unit struggled in the first half of a 22-17 exhibition victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field Friday night.
“It’s a lot of teach tape,” he said.
And after second-year quarterback Blake Bortles picked apart the Lions defense on the first two drives and the Jaguars converted their first seven third downs, the coaches must find a way to teach the players how to improve before the regular season begins on Sept. 13.
“We’ve got to get better,” Lions coach Jim Caldwell said.
