The Detroit Lions swapped out defensive tackles Friday, landing former New England defensive tackle Khyri Thornton off waivers after releasing Ishmaa'ily Kitchen earlier in the day.
Thornton, who has yet to play in an NFL game, was initially drafted by the Green Bay Packers in third round in 2014. He was on injured reserve with the Packers last season and was cut following training camp this year.
He was picked up by New England, but didn't play in any games for the Patriots before being waived Thursday.
Thornton started 28 games at Southern Mississippi in his career, making 116 tackles along with 5.
