Scott McEwen, Lance Newmark and Cedric Saunders have more than 55 years of experience in the Detroit Lions’ personnel and football operations departments.
Martin Mayhew has leaned on that kind of experience throughout his tenure as general manager and announced promotions for all three men on Thursday.
McEwen, now in his 29th season working in the Lions’ personnel department, has been a key cog in the team’s evaluation of college players throughout the country and will now serve as a senior personnel executive.
McEwen is the team’s elder statesman among the members of the personnel department, having joined the organization in 1987.
