Lions address on-field protestor disruption during Thanksgiving game vs. Eagles

DETROIT -- Protestors ran onto the field and briefly interrupted the fourth quarter of the Detroit Lions' 45-14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thanksgiving Day.

Three protestors carrying a black banner for animal liberation sprinted onto the field and got fairly close to both the Lions and Eagles players around the 20-yard line before being escorted off the field by security.

The Detroit Lions released a statement to ESPN.com early Thursday evening about the incident.

"Ford Field adheres to all security protocols mandated by the NFL which have been certified and designated by the Department of Homeland Security since 2008 as effective anti-terrorism technology," the Lions said in the statement.
