Allen Park – The Detroit Lions added tight end depth prior to the start of the team’s mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, signing Wes Saxton.
Undrafted out of South Alabama in 2015, the 6-foot-3, 248-pound Saxton showcased impressive athleticism at the scouting combine that year, posting top-three results for his position in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump and broad jump.
Saxton has spent time with Buffalo, Washington and the New York Jets, but has appeared in just one game, in 2015, taking 12 snaps and not recording any stats while with New York.
As a junior in 2013, he earned first-team All-Sun Belt honors, catching 50 passes for 635 yards in 12 games.
