After failing to add competition at the wide receiver position in last week’s NFL draft, the Detroit Lions are bringing some in via free agency.
The Lions agreed to a one-year contract with veteran receiver Andre Caldwell. The move was first reported by Pro Football Talk.
Caldwell will compete for the No. 5 receiver spot this year with Corey Fuller, undrafted rookie Jay Lee and others.
An eight-year NFL veteran, Caldwell spent the last four seasons with the Denver Broncos, including one year with new Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter.
He caught 10 passes for 72 yards last year and has 156 receptions in his career.
