Lions rookie Ameer Abdullah hasn’t been receiving much work on offense recently, but his special teams effort last Sunday earned him some recognition.
After having a 104-yard kickoff return against the Packers, tying Percy Harvin for the longest non-scoring play in NFL history, the NFL named Abdullah the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Abdullah also had a 30-yard return in the game. On his longer one, which was the first play of the third quarter, the Packers tackled him at the 1, but the Lions scored a go-ahead touchdown three plays later.
After taking a 9-3 lead early in the second quarter, the Lions eventually won 18-16, their first win at Lambeau Field since 1991.
