Allen Park — Lions coaches regularly say they want the team play smart, fast and physical.
Over the past four games, few players have lived up to that mantra as much as Isa Abdul-Quddus, a backup safety who's had an increased role during the recent 3-1 stretch.
Abdul-Quddus ran a 4.47-second 40-yard dash at his pro day in 2011, which is fast for a safety, and his speed made him a natural on special teams. In his first three NFL seasons with the Saints, he averaged 6.3 special teams tackles, ranking in the top five on the team each year.
