Jim Bob Cooter values Stafford's ideas for offense

Comfortable is the word Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford uses when describing his second year in Joe Lombardi’s system.

Stafford was crisp in Saturday’s “mock game” practice in Allen Park, which is pretty much how he’s performed through most of training camp.

Lions quarterback coach Jim Bob Cooter, who’s in his second year coaching Stafford, said the comfort level isn’t just palpable in practice when the ball is snapped. It also extends to the meeting room and Stafford’s pre-snap reads.

“We’ll throw a bunch of stuff against the wall and some of it will look really good and we’ll run it a bunch of times this year,” Cooter said.
