If there was a subtle moment that indicated how Jeff Okudah might fit into the Detroit Lions’ plans after they selected him No. 3 overall in the NFL draft Thursday night, it was when the Ohio State cornerback explained what it meant to be the highest-drafted defensive back in 23 years.

In a conference call with reporters, Okudah said he planned to make good on the Lions’ faith after they made him the highest-drafted defensive back since the Seattle Seahawks took another Buckeye, Shawn Springs, third overall in 1997.
