On Thursday afternoon, the NFL announced that Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Month, for the combined months of December and January. Over that stretch—the last five games—Gibbs has rushed for 439 yards and six rushing touchdowns on 87 carries (5.05 YPC). He also tacked on 24 catches for 235 yards and three more touchdowns. His production has been instrumental in keeping the Lions’ run game—and offense—afloat after the Lions lost running back David Montgomery to injury a few weeks back.
This news comes just days after Gibbs was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the regular season finale against the Minnesota Vikings.
