The odds are against it, but the official injury report issued by the Lions Friday gives linebacker DeAndre Levy a slight chance to play in Sunday’s season-opening road game against the San Diego Chargers.
Levy was listed as “doubtful,” even though he hasn’t practiced in more than two weeks because of a hip injury. Under NFL guidelines, a “doubtful” designation means a player has a 25-percent chance of playing.
Josh Bynes would be the logical replacement for Levy. Levy did not play in the last two preseason games.
Two Lions were listed as “out” with ankle injuries – starting right guard Larry Warford, and Caraun Reid, a key member of the rotation at defensive tackle.
