Injuries did in DeAndre Levy on the field in Detroit. What he did off the field while he was hurt might have helped shape his longer legacy in the city.
The Lions officially released Levy on Thursday, two years after he signed a four-year contract extension – a contract he never really had a chance to fulfill. After signing the deal, he played in 5 1/2 games, the majority of them while he was coming back from one injury or another.
When you’re paying a player more than $8 million against the cap, that is just not reliability of availability for the Lions to trust going forward.
