The few fans who decided to watch Pistons’ exhibition opener Tuesday night were able to see the fruits of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s labor.
The third-year shooting guard put on a shooting display, knocking down his first six three-pointers on his way to 22 points in the 115-112 loss to the Indiana Pacers at the Palace.
Rookie Stanley Johnson led the Pistons with 26 points off the bench. Paul George led the Pacers with 32 points.
Coach Stan Van Gundy said Caldwell-Pope has been the best player in camp, and it carried over to Tuesday night.
He got things started with a red-hot first-quarter, when he was 4-for-4 from three-point range.
