Second-year cornerback Nevin Lawson has made his way through the return-to-play concussion protocol and will start for Detroit today against Oakland.
Lawson, who’s started the last two games opposite Darius Slay at cornerback, suffered a concussion at the end of Detroit’s 18-16 win in Green Bay last week. He sat out practice Wednesday, but returned in limited fashion Thursday and Friday.
His return is key for Detroit as they face the terrific receiving tandem of Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper, who have six 100-yard games between them this season.
The Lions will also have the services of safety and special teams ace Don Carey (back), who, like Lawson, was questionable coming in.
