The Detroit Lions will be shorthanded at cornerback vs. Kansas City today.
Starting right cornerback Rashean Mathis, who’s been dealing with an illness all week here in England, is inactive and won’t play today.
Second-year cornerback Nevin Lawson will start on the outside in his place and veteran Josh Wilson will continue to play in his nickel cornerback role.
Mathis has started every game for the Lions the last two seasons.
The Lions will also be without linebacker DeAndre Levy, who was ruled out on Friday’s injury report.
Joining Mathis and Levy on the inactive list are: tackle Corey Robinson, receiver TJ Jones, defensive tackle Gabe Wright, tight end Timothy Wright and defensive tackle Khyri Thornton.
