SAN DIEGO – The Lions will be without All-Pro weak-side linebacker DeAndre Levy for Sunday’s season-opening game against the Chargers, but wide receiver Calvin Johnson and defensive tackle Haloti Ngata are active after not playing in any of the four preseason games.
Levy was on the list of inactive players announced 90 minutes before kickoff. Josh Bynes, a backup last year after being signed off Baltimore’s practice squad, will start in Levy’s place.
Also inactive for the Lions are starting right guard Larry Warford, key rotation defensive tackle Caraun Reid, offensive right tackle LaAdrian Waddle, wide receiver TJ Jones, cornerback Nevin Lawson and recently acquired tight end Tim Wright.
