Free Press sports writer Carlos Monarrez answers three questions regarding the Detroit Lions adding Chris Spielman as a special adviser:
What do you think of the Lions hiring Chris Spielman?
I don’t love it. The Lions' longtime, fan-favorite linebacker will be special assistant to owner Sheila Ford Hamp and president Rod Wood. No one will report to Spielman, but he will participate in interviews for the hiring of the general manager and coach. The issue is that Spielman — who has no front-office experience and very little coaching experience (2-14 record as coach of Columbus’ Arena team in 2005) — will have the ear of the top two people in the organization during this hiring cycle.
