How the Detroit Lions’ rookie class performed in preseason opener

The NFL preseason gives both teams and fans a chance to see rookie players take the field for the first time as professionals. In the Detroit Lions’ preseason debut against the New York Giants, several of their first-year players stood out.

The first two players to make their presence known were undrafted free agent signings Isaac Ukwu and Nate Lynn. Getting reps early in the game at defensive end, the two proved to be disruptors against the Giants’ passing offense.

Ukwu was first to record a sack in the game. The former Ole Miss defensive lineman utilized his strength and power to get outside leverage on Giants left tackle Joshua Ezeudu.
