How the Detroit Lions plan to take Jahmyr Gibbs to the next level

By almost every account, Jahmyr Gibbs’ rookie season was a success. He finished the season with 1,216 yards from scrimmage and 11 touchdowns. That ranks 20th and 15th among all skill position players, respectively. And when paired with literal running mate David Montgomery, the Detroit Lions produced a top-five rushing attack by nearly every metric

But, as always in the NFL, if you’re not improving, you’re falling behind. The Lions have plans to expand Gibbs’ game in Year 2, and running backs coach Scottie Montgomery said it was a two-part plan for the 22-year-old back.

First, play at a high level for the entire season.
