How TE Darren Fells can help Lions overcome loss of OT Taylor Decker

Taylor Decker's recent shoulder surgery has put the Detroit Lions' offensive line in a perilous situation for the start of the 2017 season, but the left tackle's indefinite absence could make tight end Darren Fells an even more important part of the offense.

Fells said Tuesday that he's not sure how or if his role will change as Decker recovers from an injury that likely will land him on the physically unable to perform list for at least the start of training camp.

But as the Lions audition Joe Dahl and Cornelius Lucas as potential replacements at left tackle, offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said Fells' presence can only help the Lions up front.
