Matt Patricia doesn’t like comparisons, and he certainly wasn’t going to make any Thursday between Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford and Tom Brady, his former signal caller with the New England Patriots and one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.
But the first-year Lions coach didn’t mince words when asked if there are similarities between Stafford and Brady from a mental standpoint.
“I never compare guys, that’s not really fair,” Patricia said. “Tom, wonderful, unbelievable player, human being, everything. Love the guy to death. Stafford’s phenomenal. He’s work hard, tough, smart, and you know what’s great is when you have quarterbacks like that when you can go out – and look (Jake) Rudock and Matt Cassel are the same guys – that you’re going out and you’re having football conversations (with).
