MINNEAPOLIS -- Golden Tate caught the ball, shook off a Harrison Smith tackle and ran toward the end zone. He tried to start a celebratory flip. He didn’t quite complete it, but it didn’t matter. He held onto the ball.
As he did, the Detroit Lions pulled off a 22-16 overtime win over Minnesota by scoring a touchdown on their first possession. And while the style points probably won’t be what Jim Caldwell will want to see, the result is something the Lions will take.
With the flip, the Lions shook up the entire NFC North.
