Get to know a Detroit Lions opponent: New York Jets’ key additions, subtractions, 2018 outlook, more

If you’re like me, you’ve been tunnel-visioning the Detroit Lions all offseason. The rest of the league is irrelevant, because the only team that can get between the Lions and a championship is the Lions themselves.

Of course, that’s nothing but a bunch of coachspeak. The opponents matter, and so it’s time to do some informational cramming on the Lions’ Week 1 opponent. Consider this your cheat sheet to get you prepared for the Monday night season opener.

5-11 record (4th in AFC East)
24th in points scored, t-22nd in points allowed
Overall DVOA: 26th (25th on offense, 18th on defense)

The Jets made a bunch of coaching changes prior to the 2017 season, parting ways with their offensive coordinator (retirement), quarterbacks, running backs, defensive line, outside linebacker and defensive back coaches.
