Garth Brooks gives a press conference before his sold out show in Detroit. Detroit Free Press
Garth Brooks had a message of encouragement Friday for a group of Detroit college athletes: “Stay in the game.” And he wasn’t talking about just sports.
The country superstar, in town for a sold-out show Saturday at Ford Field, was joined by Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia to speak with more than 100 student-athletes at the University of Detroit Mercy. It was the latest in a series of get-togethers with student athletes Brooks has arranged in cities on his latest tour.
