It has been a few seasons since the Detroit Lions have drafted someone from within the state (punter Pat O’Connor from Eastern Michigan in 2017, Graham Glasgow and Jake Rudock from Michigan in 2016), but that could change this season with a number of viable options on the draft board.
While there is not necessarily a huge advantage in selecting a local product aside from some small scouting perks, it is always fun as a fan to get to stick with a college star as they get drafted to their nearby NFL team. At the end of the day it might be coincidence more than anything, but it is still fun to find a good match.
