The Detroit Lions didn’t take long to pivot after losing cornerback Carlton Davis to free agency. According to several reports (Jordan Schultz first), the Lions are signing former Jets cornerback D.J. Reed to a three-year, $48 million contract, including $32 million guaranteed. Reed will average $16 million a year, which is less than the reported $18-20 million Davis got with the Patriots (conflicting reports on Davis’ number).
Reed, a former fifth-round pick for the San Francisco 49ers, has spent the last three years with the New York Jets, starting 46 games over that stretch, while tallying 32 passes defended, and two interceptions.
