Former Lions OC Jim Bob Cooter joins New York Jets as RBs coach

The best name in sports is headed to the Big Apple.

Former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter is joining the New York Jets as running backs coach, the team announced Tuesday.

Cooter was fired by the Lions in January after they finished the season ranked 24th in total offense and 25th in scoring offense.

He initially joined the Lions staff in 2014 as quarterbacks coach under then head coach Jim Caldwell, and was elevated to offensive coordinator midway through the 2015 season after the Lions fired Joe Lombardi.
