A former Lions draft pick got to become an example for the Dolphins organization Tuesday.
Gabe Wright, a fourth-round pick in Martin Mayhew's last draft in Detroit, was released Tuesday following a moment in Monday's Dolphins practice when he threw a blindside hit on running back Kenyan Drake, who was standing with his helmet off at the time, ESPN reported.
Drake then threw Wright's helmet to the sidelines.
Wright was responding to a moment where a Dolphins running back was tackled to the ground for the third time in a setting that wasn't supposed to feature live tackling.
