Tommy Vaughn, who played with the Detroit Lions from 1965 to 1971, died Sunday morning after suffering from a long illness. He was 77.
Vaughn, who played free safety, was a high school All-American from Troy, Ohio, and a two-way player at Iowa State from 1962 to 1964.
He had nine interceptions and nine fumble recoveries for the Lions, who drafted him in the fifth round (No. 57) in 1965, and also was used on kickoff and punt returns.
