Former Detroit Lions 1st round pick Charles Rogers dies at age 38

Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Charles Rogers has died at the young age of 38 years old, according to Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press.

Rogers, the second-overall pick of the 2003 draft, spent just three seasons with the Lions before the team cut him. Unfortunately for Rogers, he dealt with a couple of injuries in Detroit that immediately derailed his career, and in his final season with the Lions he was hit by a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

Rogers did not end up landing on any other NFL teams afterwards.
