In the midst of one of the worst seasons in franchise history, Detroit Lions owner Martha Ford sent a letter to season-ticket holders today saying fans "deserve much better."
"You have done your part," the letter read in part. "You deserve a Lions football team that is a consistent winner and one that competes for championships.
"In order to achieve this, we will conduct a thorough and exhaustive national search for the best people to lead our organization."
The Lions enter this weekend's game against the Green Bay Packers an NFL worst 1-7.
Last week, they fired general manager Martin Mayhew and president Tom Lewand, and they're in the beginning stages of searching for their replacements.
