Former Detroit Lions defensive tackle Haloti Ngata announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday, posting a picture of himself at the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro with a sign that read, “I’m retiring from the NFL on top.”
Ngata, a five-time Pro Bowler with the Baltimore Ravens, played the 2015-17 seasons with the Lions before spending last fall with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Lions acquired Ngata in 2015 trade with the Ravens after losing Ndamukong Suh to the Miami Dolphins in free agency.
Ngata wasn’t the same impactful player in Detroit that he was with the Ravens, but he had six sacks in 32 games and helped the Lions make one playoff appearance.
