Former Detroit Lions defensive end Armonty Bryant is fighting for his life.
Bryant, 28, needs a kidney donation and transplant, according to ESPN.com. He has been diagnosed with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, or FSGS, a condition that has led to kidney failure and requires him to undergo four rounds of dialysis each day at his home in San Diego.
Bryant retired in July after playing parts of six seasons with the Lions, the Cleveland Browns and the Oakland Raiders. He played five games for the Lions in 2016 and was cut in October 2017 after he served his third suspension in 13 months.
