Eastern Michigan football player surprised with scholarship at Detroit Lions game

DETROIT - Eastern Michigan senior wide receiver Jaron Johnson was in for quite the surprise Saturday night.

Eagles head coach Chris Creighton gave the team the night off from football activities and surprised his players with a trip to Ford Field to watch the Detroit Lions play the New York Jets.

Along with cheering on current Lions and former EMU standouts T.J. Lang and Pat O'Connor, Creighton also surprised Johnson will a full-ride scholarship for the upcoming season.

In a video taken by EMU Athletics, Creighton called out a seat number for a special recognition, and then handed Johnson a slip of paper with his scholarship announcement.
