Citing lack of staff, Eastern Market is banning tailgating before Detroit Lions games for the 2021-2022 season.
"At this time, Eastern Market Partnership does not have the staff capacity to host large-scale tailgating crowds," the market announced in a news release this week.
The market also will be enforcing a parking ban for all games during the season.
Fans shouldn't get too discouraged, said Dan Carmody, president of the Eastern Market Partnership. The market hopes to bring the tradition back next year.
"We love the energy that Detroit Lions fans bring to the market but with our current resources, we can’t provide the experience that fans expect," Carmody said.
