Dorne Dibble, former Michigan State and Detroit Lions' stalwart, dies at 88

NORTHVILLE, Mich. -- Dorne Dibble, a two-way player at Michigan State who was on two Detroit Lions title teams in the 1950s, has died. He was 88.

Michigan State and the Lions confirmed Dibble's death. He died Thursday in Northville.

Dibble played defensive end and receiver under Michigan State coach Biggie Munn. In 1950, the Spartans finished in the AP top 10 for the first time. In two seasons at Michigan State, Dibble caught 16 passes for 363 yards.

The Lions drafted Dibble in 1951. He missed the 1952 season to serve in the U.
