Discussion: Which Detroit Lions rule proposals do you agree with?

Related Topics: Detroit Lions

On Wednesday, the NFL revealed all the team-submitted rule proposals for the 2025 season, and no team submitted more proposals than the Detroit Lions. That has become a more common trend in the NFL, as the Lions have annually offered rule changes since the new regime took over in 2021.

This year’s offerings are some pretty significant changes.

  1. They want defensive holding and illegal contact to no longer carry with them an automatic first down for the offense
  2. They want playoff seeding based on overall record, instead of giving division winners the top four seeds automatically
  3. And they want players who are placed on IR before the season to not count against the 90-man roster during the season (active 53-man roster + practice squad + IR)

You can read the full text of each proposal here.
