Did Lions save wrong ball for Stafford?

Did the Detroit Lions save the wrong football to commemorate Matthew Stafford becoming the fastest player in NFL history to reach 25,000 yards passing?

After watching the All-22 film of Sunday's 21-14 loss to the St. Louis Rams, it appears that way.

Stafford eclipsed 25,000 yards passing for his career midway through the third quarter Sunday on a 5-yard pass to Theo Riddick near the Rams sideline.

The Lions scored a touchdown on the next play, and after Golden Tate tossed the ball to a fan in the stands, the Fox crew broadcasting the game said the team retrieved the ball as a memento of Stafford's achievement.
