ALLEN PARK – The Detroit Lions were among several NFL teams that passed – not once but twice – on hometown boy Allen Robinson in the 2014 NFL draft.
While Robinson slipped to the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 61 overall, the Lions chose Eric Ebron with the 10th pick of the first round and then used their second-round selection to take Kyle Van Noy at No. 40.
While Ebron is finally starting to show some of the promise the Lions saw when they surprised everyone by taking him so high in the draft and Van Noy was traded to New England, Robinson has established himself as one of the NFL's promising young receivers.
