Detroit Lions Tyrell Williams took an unnecessary and penalized hit in Week 1 which left him in the league's concussion protocol and as the team begins practices in Week 3, his health has not improved.
On Wednesday, coach Dan Campbell met with the local media and opened with the fact that Williams status was unchanged, and he was not expecting him to be available for this weekend’s game against the Baltimore Ravens at Ford Field.
Per the league’s protocols, Williams would need to complete a five-step process in order to be cleared for game action:
- Step 1: Rest and recovery
- Step 2: Light aerobic activities
- Step 3: More aerobic exercise and strength training
- Step 4: Football specific activities
- Step 5: Full football activity
At this time, it’s unclear at what stage Williams is at, but as of last week, he was not at the Lions training facility in Allen Park.
