Detroit Lions waive fullback Michael Burton to make room for Matt Asiata

With no plans to have a traditional fullback in their offense, the Detroit Lions waived Michael Burton this morning to make room for Matt Asiata.

Burton was considered one of the best blocking fullbacks in the NFL the last two years, but he saw his usage shrink in Jim Bob Cooter's offense last season.

He played a total of six offensive snaps in the Lions' final six games, and was inactive for the team's Week 17 loss to the Green Bay Packers and wildcard loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
