The backup quarterback job is one of the few legitimate positions still up for grabs on the Detroit Lions' 53-man roster.
Matt Cassel and Jake Rudock have been alternating days with the second- and third-team offense going back to the spring, and depending on when you watch, you'd have a different opinion of who's in the lead.
In the spring, I would have given Rudock the edge. Now that we're almost three weeks into training camp, I think Cassel is the man to beat – but it's still too early to declare a winner.
Wednesday was Rudock's day to work with the twos, and like most backups, he had his ups and downs.
