Detroit Lions training camp observations: Intensity up vs. Raiders

NAPA, Calif. — In the first few practices of training camp, before they were even in pads, the Detroit Lions opened with a goal-line walk-through that Matt Patricia said was designed to drill the mental side of the game.

On Tuesday, the Lions finished their first joint practice with the Oakland Raiders with four physical goal-line reps, a fitting end to a chippy day.

Practicing on the grounds of Redwood Middle School, in a neighborhood behind the Napa Valley Marriott, the Lions and Raiders worked ones vs. ones and twos vs. twos for the majority of a two-plus-hour practice.
